Adding
variability into the learning process will enable an individual to progress
more effectively and efficiently through the stages of learning.
Skill
acquisition is about performing ‘perfect repetition’ in an environment that
encourages adaptation and progression by constantly asking different questions
of your subconscious system.
There are 4 stages of learning and
skill acquisition:
- UNSKILLED-UNCONSCIOUS
- UNSKILLED-CONSCIOUS
- SKILLED-CONSCIOUS
- SKILLED-UNCONSCIOUS
The best that can be done is to put a candidate/individual in an environment that helps to promote the way we want them to adapt.
There are four different ways to induce
specific power variability into skill training:
- Complex training
- Fatigue induced learning
- Same but Different
- Induced randomness/chaos
“The frequency of practice is the key to assimilating a
skill”
