In the endeavor
of becoming great organization, acknowledging facts is better than wishful
thinking / dreams i.e infusing the entire process with brutal facts of reality.
Another aspect is taking series of good decisions, diligent execution and
accumulated on top of another.
Skill development in India
is nearly 7 yrs into practice and yet the direction & strategy is blur. While
in the absence of confronting the brutal fact of wandering sector skill
councils, the process to eliminate, change or replace is becoming unmanageable. Right people
on the bus and on the right seat is yet another critical factor. The current
set – many mediocre leading the initiative – is like driving the bus with handbrake
on.
It will
be interesting to witness the implementation (if at all) of Sharda Prasad Committee report on SSC. What effect
it will bring on ground level only time will tell.
An example, from Retail
sector of “confronting the brutal facts”
and “courage” to take decision -
