Until few weeks back, life was
commonly seen as overscheduled, machine dominated and sometimes soulless.
People were spending money they didn’t have, bought things they didn’t need, impress
people they didn’t like, postponing improving health etc..what a poor way to
live!!
Often, a bad example teaches us more
about who we wish to become than a good one could ever provide. And in this
world of so many hardened human beings who have lost access to who they truly
are while considering themselves the most superior specie and in some cases
god.
Covid and lockdown has exposed people
to do-it-yourself
culture which earlier was to be watched online or usually ignored. It has
created another model of rat race, the digital, which includes webinars,
teleconferences etc on various platforms. Both of it, lot of people will find
it really difficult as most are used to have someone doing it for them. Humans,
as we know surely will find a way to crack this so that blame n burden shifts
to someone else. The usual mediocre mentality.
One major positive aspect of Covid - social
distancing - has arrived. Which again will be nearly impossible to
implement as people are not self-regulated and are habitual of stacking on to
one another in markets & public transport (metro, bus, air), refuse to
understand how to stand in a queue, least bothered about distancing despite so
much promotion & threat. Everyone know that in absence of medical
facilities & medicine for Covid we have to live with it, but don’t want to
change their behaviors & habits. Especially shameless liquor connoisseurs
made a mockery of social distancing & lockdown to hoard the booze.
Since it is a matter of time and not if but when. This nuisance
will be short lived as we have seen nature rebooting itself. So, taking care of
basics should become the new normal while other things are optional.
However, it’s yet another reminder that nature is supreme &
history isn’t kind to people who play god.
